Server Hardware Requirements
CPU/Memory Hardware Requirements Tables
The following table provides the minimum hardware specifications required to run CenterScape depending on the number of asset and sensor tag you will deploy in your production environment. The term ‘core’ refers to processor core designed for server use between today and 2017. Newer cores may require less count and older cores may require a higher count. Additionally, these core counts are for a basic Windows install plus the CenterScape applications. Adding security agents, application performance management, and other services to the host may require an increase in core count to support those functions.
Note: Due to the more active data collection and attribute count, temperature, and humidity tags each count as 5 tags, while RPDU tags count as 20 tags in the following tables.
Linux Deployments
| Number Of Tags Deployed | CPU Cores | Total RAM For Operating System* | Dedicated RAM for Application Server |
|---|---|---|---|
| Less Than 1,000 | 2 | 3GB | 2GB |
| 1000 -10,000 | 2 | 4GB | 3GB |
| 10,000 - 20,000 | 4 | 5GB | 4GB |
| 20,000 - 30,000 | 4 | 8GB | 6GB |
| 30,000 - 50,000 | 8 | 10GB | 8GB |
Windows Deployments
| Number Of Tags Deployed | CPU Cores | Total RAM For Operating System* | Dedicated RAM for Application Server |
|---|---|---|---|
| Less Than 1,000 | 2 | 4GB | 2GB |
| 1000 -10,000 | 2 | 5GB | 3GB |
| 10,000 - 20,000 | 4 | 6GB | 4GB |
| 20,000 - 30,000 | 4 | 10GB | 6GB |
| 30,000 - 50,000 | 8 | 12GB | 8GB |
*RAM for operating system is based on default OS overhead. Additional enterpise moniroting agents and other site specific software that may be included in a managed operating system is not included.
Application Server Storage
The CenterScape application itself requires five gigabytes of storage for binaries, logs, and temporary files as well as an additional 15GB for potential support and diagnostic issues. The database will store all data generated by CenterScape and its requirements are discussed later. Additionally, CenterScape may “core dump” if the application runs into a serious error. Each dump will be the size of the memory allocated to the application.
